This year, it's sitting a little differently for a lot of us, as we confront our nation's dark origins. While we work to face what this nation was built on, let's remember that we always have the power to create the world in which we want to live by our actions. We thought this would be a good time to talk about some of B.A.G. Box's core founding values.
Self Care isn't selfish. We can't stress this one enough. We believe it's important for all of us to take time to fill our own cups, before we go and pour out for others. Self care is non-negotiable in our lives, and we make the effort to learn new ways of filling ourselves up all the time. This helps us better serve our subscribers, and show up for our community, and we believe in practicing self care regularly, as a preventive medicine against burn out.
Self care looks different for everyone. There is no right or wrong way to practice self care. Feel like a cup of tea? Get it. Desperately need a massage? Get one. Want to spend 15 minutes reading a book. Do it. Self care isn't a specific set of activities, and it doesn't need to cost any money. Do what you need, and use what you have.
Women supporting women. We have built a community of women entrepreneurs that continues to grow every day. We take pride in the relationships we have built with our collaborators, and we consider collaborations to be ongoing, well past one order. This includes promoting collaborator's events, sales, new products, and so on. This is all part of building a community that is beneficial for all participants.
Collaboration over Competition. We believe in forming mutually beneficial relationships. We pay our vendors fair wholesale prices that are mutually agreed upon, so you can be sure that each item in a B.A.G. Box was paid for fairly.
Ethical sourcing. We source our products to be ethical both culturally and for the earth, as much as possible. Examples of this are the sweetgrass braids and dreamcatchers we carry, which are sourced from companies run by Native Americans. Also the Sage bundles we carry were wild foraged in the mountains of Ojai California, and do not contribute to the over-harvesting of sage.
Uplifting diverse voices. We are proud of the diversity represented within our community. We love to share artwork and products from diverse makers with credit. We like to include diversity in all of the other above principles of our business.
